On Friday, May 8, 2026 the sun was shining across the San Diego Bay as our community of generous supporters gathered for the 2026 Visionary Luncheon & Auction. Hosted at Coasterra with a stunning view of the Coronado bridge, guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and an open bar while bidding on fun silent auction packages like curated wine tastings, Padres tickets, luxurious skin products, and live musical performances. If you snagged one of the items up for auction, congrats!
In honor of Alzheimer’s San Diego’s 10th Anniversary, the organization recognized a very special member of our community – the amazing Ann Owens. Ten years ago, Ann played an instrumental role in the formation of Alzheimer’s San Diego as a local nonprofit. Over the past decade Ann has raised over $400,000 with her Walk4ALZ team, “Ann’s Army,” served as an officer on the Alzheimer’s San Diego Board, and currently serves on the Alzheimer’s San Diego Community Advisory Council.
Ann has seen Alzheimer’s San Diego’s services grow to include the first ever gun lock program for people with dementia in the US, the formation of the Law Enforcement Referral Program (LERP), expanded Spanish-language services, and a specialized program to meet the unique needs of people living alone with memory loss in San Diego County. “Alzheimer’s disease impacts so many people, the people with the disease, their families, and their caregivers,” says Ann, “I am driven by a desire to help them until a cure for Alzheimer’s disease is found.” Through it all, Ann was there to provide guidance and strength. And last week, you were there to support the dementia community as well.
To everyone who joined us to raise critical funds through the silent auction, live auction, and raise the paddle event, thank you. With your help, the 2026 Visionary Luncheon & Auction raised over $180,000! 100% of the money raised at the event will stay in San Diego to help San Diegans affected by memory loss. We appreciate your support as we work towards one simple vision: a world where every San Diegan impacted by Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia has the support and compassion they need to navigate this disease…TODAY.
