For the month of January 2021, Alzheimer’s San Diego is celebrating Support Group Awareness Month!

We currently offer more than 25 virtual support groups, held using Zoom. For those of you who may not be familiar with how to sign up for a Zoom group, we’ve put together this helpful step-by-step video:

Our support groups can be life-changing for care partners. The provide a safe place to connect with other people who understand what you’re going through and can offer not only emotional support – but practical solutions to everyday problems.

“These are compassionate people who care about one another. We are family. We have same sex couples, daughters taking care of mothers, spouses taking care of spouse. We are open to one another and value the discussions that we generate,” explains Patti, leader of the Tuesday San Carlos group.

“In fact, many have lost their loved one and continue to meet with the group,” she continues. “They offer valuable insights to ‘moving on with the business of living’ and share their stories of their past challenges and solutions.”

We even offer specialty support groups for care partners in unique situations, such as those whose person is living in a memory care facility, or adult children caring for a parent with dementia.

You can find a group that works around your schedule. We have groups meeting 6 days a week, with morning, afternoon, and evening options to choose from. You are welcome to attend as many different groups as you would like.
